Michael Larscheid, Westchase Tennis Director, has been progressively teaching tennis for 26 years. He was recruited to run the Westchase tennis program in 2001 and since then has constructed an exceptional Junior tennis program that parallels the outstanding community that we live in. Michael has been trained and mentored by some great coaches such as Vic Braden, Dennis Van der Meer, Jim Taylor Ph.D., John Whittlinger (Stanford), Chuck Kriese (Clemson Univ.), Eric Rogers (Univ. of Evansville, IN), and last but not least, Tampa’s Steve Smith (TennisSmith.com). Michael has trained and worked with junior players at the District, Sectional and National levels. He has worked with numerous College players as well as players who have gone on to play the pro tour with rankings as high as the top 200 in the world. Brett Johnson, Westchase Staff Pro, has been playing tennis since he was 2 years old.  Brett was recruited by Coach Mike several years ago to help out with Adult and Junior Lessons and Camps. Brett received a full tennis scholarship and played on the Wofford College Tennis Team from August 2001 to May 2005.  He was the Captain during the 2004-2005 season. Four-year starter playing between number one and three and winner of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga collegiate tournament.  From June 2005 to January 2006, he played acquiring wins over world ranked players and traveled both nationally and internationally to play in various tournaments. Since April 2006, Brett has been teaching tennis at different clubs including Rock Creek Swim & Raquet Club in Silver Spring, MD, Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach, FL and most recently at Westchase since 2007.  Also during this time, Brett was a Professional, Ranked Beach Tennis Player.  In 2008, his team was ranked number one in the country and was the winner of three titles.  Consistently in top three of all tournaments played.  First-ever recipient of the Sjoerd de Vries Award for heart and dedication.  Attained various sponsorships.  Appeared on behalf of Beach Tennis USA in several high-profile media appearances.  Represented the USA in the International Federation of Beach Tennis (I.F.B.T.) World Championship in Marina de Ravenna, Italy. Brett is a USPTR certified coach.
